Kent serves as founder and general partner at S28. Being a venture investor for almost a decade, Kent considers himself a fund entrepreneur having started Harbor Pacific Capital in 2009 after business school and more recently S28 Capital where he is a General Partner. He has invested in more than 70 companies across industries, stages, and geographies including companies such as Zoom, Coupang, Evernote, and Palantir. He is passionate about working closely with founders on go to market strategy and thinking about global expansion should it make sense. More importantly, he is excited about the relationships he has built with multiple founders to support them on the emotional rollercoaster ride that we call startups.
Kent is a generalist investor and enjoys discovering new opportunities in old industries where software has an opportunity to drastically improve productivity and efficiency. As an example he has been exploring deeply into the construction, retail, and hospitality spaces. While the fund’s core focus is the U.S., Kent has a keen interest on exploring international markets believing that all emerging economies big and small will develop homegrown technology leaders.
Kent was also an Executive Director at Sing Tao News Corporation (HK: 1105), where he was responsible for the development of digital media and related business. He serves as a board member for Grace Wine Holdings (HK: 8146) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, which is the Hong Kong Government’s most well-funded technology and innovation platform. He was formerly a member of the advisory board of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council Technology Committee.
Kent is a Honorary Trustee of Peking University and was chosen as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2018. He holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Duke University.
